Questions people ask

Is this therapy?

No. The Aaron J Show is a conversation show — like a call-in radio show, just in podcast and video form. Aaron talks with callers about what they're going through, and those conversations are shared publicly for education and entertainment.

It isn't therapy, counseling, or a crisis service, and being on the show doesn't create a therapist-client relationship. If you're looking for ongoing, private help, a licensed professional in your area is the right place to start.

Do I have to use my real name?

No. Plenty of callers use a different name on the show. Just tell us what you'd like to be called.

Will people know it's me?

We'll do what we can to help you stay private: a different name, and leaving out or changing details like where you live, where you work, and the names of people in your life. We'll work that out with you before anything is recorded.

We can't promise that no one will ever recognize you — your voice and your story will be public. If that's a worry, tell us, and we'll talk it through before deciding anything.

What if I mention my spouse, family, or other people?

That's normal — most of what we carry involves other people. We'll ask you to leave out their real names, and we'll help keep identifying details out of the conversation so it stays about your side of things.

Is there a cost to be on the show?

No. It costs nothing to call, submit your story, or be on the show.

Do I have to live in a certain state?

No. You can call or submit your story from any state.

What happens after I submit?

We read every submission. If your story looks like a good fit for the show, we'll reach out using the contact method you picked. If it's a fit for both of us, we'll set up a time to talk and go over the participation agreement before anything is recorded.

We can't reach out to everyone, and not hearing back doesn't mean your story doesn't matter.

Can I change my mind after we record?

Yes — tell us before your episode is published and we'll work with you.

Can I just call instead of filling out the form?

Yes. Call 385-230-7762 anytime and leave a voicemail. Tell us your first name, what's going on, and the best way to reach you.
